Our work includes a range of art projects with local schools and youth centres, resulting in exhibitions of colourful Pop Art Prints of Handsworth Personalities. We have recorded interviews, both audio and on film, with local Elders and personalities. We have been involved in making short films such as Gypsy Boy directed by Surjit Simplay, based on the Black Patch, a local park that is historically associated with Charlie Chaplin and Romany Gypsies.

We are also hosting the prestigious Handsworth Park Arts Trail, a three year project that will result in six large, permanent sculptures in Handsworth’s beautiful public park. As a long-term project, we have plans to produce a History of Handsworth in comic book format.

Handsworth Creative CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We are grateful for support from Birmingham City CouncilArts Council England, and National Lottery funding.
