WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSION AND VALUES

Handsworth Creative is a Community Interest Company and was formed in 2013, it is based in Handsworth and operates across North Birmingham.

Since forming we have undertaken a series of community-based art activities in the Perry Barr and Ladywood districts. We specialise in Visual Arts projects and developed the Handsworth Park Arts Trail, a three-year Arts Council England funded project.

In 2017 we ran the Aston and Newtown Cultural Commissioning funded project, Veranda Stories, and in 2018 we completed a short film Gypsy Boy inspired by the recently discovered evidence that Charlie Chaplin was born on the Black Patch site in Handsworth.

Handsworth Creative CIC is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We are grateful for support from Birmingham City CouncilArts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund, and the National Lottery.

OUR BOARD

The members of our board of directors are leaders who have made a significant contribution both locally and citywide. Each and every one of them brings a unique set of skills and expertise to our organisation and have been involved in engaging audiences from diverse communities for many years.
